    I am a greatly different and healthier person today than I was a year ago. It was at that time that I began working with Dr. Kane on a plan to become well. Last year, I was gravely challenged by my medical situation. I weighed over 300 pounds. I had just had surgery for a weight-related problem. I was an insulin-dependent diabetic and I had a number of other medical issues related to my obesity.     Dr. Kane was the best solution to help me prioritize my diet and exercise plan right before I got married last fall. I was so nervous about walking down the aisle feeling “big” in front of all my friends and family.  When I walked into Park Avenue Weight I only had three months to lose my goal of 20 pounds which I did not see possible because of everything I had planned in such a short time. I had spent my whole life trying to take off that extra weight.  Dr. Kane put me right on a calorie restricted diet and told me exactly what I had to do in order to lose 20 pounds in three months.  Every week I followed up with Dr. Kane and he altered my diet so that the weight kept coming off and made the perfect plan of attack before my big day.  Not only did the weight for the first time come right off, but I continued to lose weight after the three month program! I felt like it was not just a three month program but a set of skills I would use for a life time.

    I’d lost weight before on crash diets and by skipping meals, but always regained the pounds soon after.  Dr. Kane recommended I eat three meals a day, follow his caloric regimen and exercise daily.  The result was a gradual loss of 33 pounds over five months.  One year after reaching my goal, I am on maintenance and continue to exercise regularly and have kept the weight off.   In Dr. Kane’s program, health considerations are an essential complement to weight loss.  I feel better, look better and am less tense.

    I came to Dr. Kane after having avoided doctors and ignored my health for nearly a decade.  Now married and with a daughter on the way, I knew it was time to start taking care of myself.  I was shocked when I found out that I now weighed over 240 pounds, and had high cholesterol and diabetes.  It only took me one visit with Dr. Kane to get my self to be convinced of his program.  He designed a diet and exercise regimen for me to manage my conditions and, within three  months, I had lost 27 pounds and no longer had diabetes or high cholesterol…all this without medications!  I know I still have a long way to go to optimal health, but I appreciate all that Dr. Kane has done for me.
